Meet the Staff
My name is Barbara Lohre. I am the owner of Southpaw Pet Salon. I have been an animal lover all my life. In 2007 I decided to make the switch from working with horses to working with dogs. I took a job as a veterinary assistant and from there I decided to pursue becoming a professional dog groomer. After researching grooming schools, I moved to Newnan, Georgia, for six months to attend Graywood Academy of Pet Styling.
I chose to open my own business so I can control the quality of work, products and service. I want each dog to look his best and have an enjoyable and safe experience.
Each dog is styled to his/her correct and proper breed profile, and I create practical styles for farm pets. I have received specialized training in hand- stripping terriers. Although vocational licensing of pet grooming is not required in Virginia, I have tested and received certification with the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists (ISCC). I believe strongly in continuing education and strive to keep current by attending annual trade events for the pet grooming industry.
My name is Rosie and I am the greeter at Southpaw Pet Salon. I worked with horses all my life until Mom and I moved to Georgia. At school I helped at the front desk and also kept an eye on the grooming room. Every afternoon I’d slip off to nap, um, I mean study. On our last day at Graywood they presented me with a doggie diploma. I believe that every dog should have a job and I’m happy to be the Southpaw greeter.
My name is Greta. Barbara and I met at a dog show in Georgia. I was in need of a new home so I wagged my happy tail at Barb and the next thing I knew, she was asking to take me. Well, first she had to check with Rosie who said it would be fine. I’ve never had a job before but I like visiting with dogs and people and I wag my tail for everyone.
